My Greatest Inheritance

These past two weeks have been pretty hectic. My Sisters-in-law and I have been planning my mother's 60th Birthday party. We wanted to honor my mother on her special day with a Grand Victorian Ball.
We chose this theme because it fits my mother perfectly.
She loves pearls and antiques and is both an elegant and classy lady.

I would like to dedicate this post to my mother. Her life and testimony has impacted me as wife and mother and I pray that after reading this blog you will be encouraged to pursue the calling in your life as a
 Proverbs 31 Wife.

Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
She is more precious than rubies.
Her husband can trust her,
and she will greatly enrich his life.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
-Proverbs 31:10-12

Growing up as a young girl I never saw my mother disrespect my father. I’m sure there were times when my mother did not agree with my father but she always made sure to address him in private. Now as an adult I learned of difficult situations that my mother had to endure in her marriage. The struggles and the trials that she had to face day to day were not easy, but my mother was and is a resilient woman; and she did not give up the fight. She stood by my father’s side, even when others would tell her he would never change. Her love for her husband is unconditional, a true reflection of the love of God. My mother respects my father; she is a submissive wife and upholds her husband in his place of honor.

She carefully watches everything in her household
and suffers nothing from laziness.
-Proverbs 31:27

Laziness is not one of the characteristics that my mother exhibits. She works vigorously in her home. When you walked into our house you would have never guessed that she had 4 children. When my father arrived home from a hard day at work, dinner was always ready. The amazing aroma of her Cuban dishes filled the whole house, yet my favorite dish was and is her famous lasagna. My mother knew and understood that her first ministry was her home and she carried out her responsibilities with gladness.

She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.
When she speaks, her words are wise,
and she gives instructions with kindness
Proverbs 31: 25 & 26

My mother is 4 ’11 but don’t underestimate the power of a praying woman. She has the kind of faith that can move mountains. She has nothing to fear, for she knows who her God is and her foundation is set under the alignment of God.  She has instilled Gods word into each of her children’s hearts, and has fallen on her knees in prayer for each and every one of us.

One of the things I love about my mother is that even when she’s having a bad day, she doesn't cease to be kind to others. She calls everyone darling, even if she doesn't know you.

I can call my mother at any time of the day and she is willing to listen and give me the best marital advice. She does not tell me what I want to hear, but voices the word of God and what he has to say in the matter.

Her children stand and bless her.
Her husband praises her:
“There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
but you surpass them all!”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.
Proverbs 31: 28 -31

Today I write this blog in honor of the extraordinary woman that is my mother. She is the noblest woman that I know. She purses the Lord with all of her heart.

She is truly a reflection of God’s Love.

I want my mother’s legacy to live on in me. When my boys are grown and ready to choose their wives, I want to be the prime example of what a woman of God should portray.

The greatest inheritance a mother can leave her children is a living example of an honorable woman, a testament that what sets a virtuous woman apart from any other woman is her fear of God.

In Honor of
Graciela Rosario

I Love you Mom!
